God’s providential care
How often I’ve wanted to be able to define how God works in His Providence to our good. I know that He does and yet I cannot know all His ways.

God’s providential care
by Terry Broome
How often I’ve wanted to be able to define how God works in His Providence to our good. I know that He does and yet I cannot know all His ways. In fact, Paul declares that His ways are past finding out: “O the depth of the riches both of the wisdom and knowledge of God! how unsearchable are his judgments, and his ways past finding out!” (Rom 11:33 KJV)

The habit of gratitude
by Terry Broome
It’s here at last! That wonderful season of Thanksgiving! I love this time of the year and the fact that so many say so much about the reasons for being thankful. The psalmist calls his people to “remember” the works of God in Psalms 105:1-5 (KJV) “Remember his marvellous works that he hath done; his wonders, and the judgments of his mouth;”

America, God Shed His Grace On Thee”
by Terry Broome
In 1991, Carla Rohlfing wrote an article for Family Circle magazine (4/23/91, p. 24) in which she affirmed that “The newest ‘virus’ to sweep the nation has nothing to do with getting sick in the traditional sense. According to leading psychologists, Americans are suffering from an unprecedented ‘uncertainty syndrome,’ hallmarked by chronic, even crippling anxiety that threatens to have a strong–and negative effect on our family relationships.” Mrs. Rohlfing went on to blame the Persian Gulf War (our first invasion of Iraq after their attack on Kuwait) under President George H. W. Bush, along with the continuing recession, rising crime rate and other events of that decade. She observed: “What makes our current situation so critical is that as an individual, you have little, if any, power over events that could have a strong impact on your family–from further job cutbacks to the slump in real-estate values.”
