Municipal election voter turnout lower than usual
During last Tuesday’s Scottsboro municipal election, 2,678 voters voted. That is only 22.49 percent of Scottsboro’s 11,905 registered voters.
Jackson County CAC requests funding
During last week’s Scottsboro City Council work session, the Jackson County Children’s Advocacy Center requested funding in the amount of $300,000 from the opioid settlement funds received by the City of Scottsboro. It was noted that of the $8.5 million distributed, $730,000 was given to the Alabama Boys and Girls Club.
Stonebridge residents speak at hearing
The much anticipated public hearing was held last week regarding the rezoning of 50 acres in the Stonebridge Subdivision. Developers have proposed rezoning the property from R-1 to R-3. However, there has been much opposition to the rezoning by residents of Stonebridge. The hearing was packed with residents of Stonebridge and other citizens of Scottsboro.
9th Annual Mistletoe Market to be held
The Scottsboro Woman’s League is again hosting its popular Mistletoe Market. Mistletoe Market is an upscale Christmas marketplace with vendors from across the Southeast. It will be held at Goose Pond Civic Center November 22nd through November 24, 2024.
