Dragon Boat Races to be held August 9th
The Highlands Foundation and Nourish One Child are proud to partner to once again bring dragon boat races to Scottsboro. The second annual Scottsboro Dragon Boat Races will be held at Goose Pond Colony on Saturday, August 9.
This premier sporting event draws participants and attendees from throughout the region for a day of exciting and friendly competition and community spirit. Spectators will gather to cheer on their favorite teams as they board 46-foot-long traditional Hong Kong style dragon boats for a race on Lake Guntersville.
Registration for teams is now open, and the even is also seeking sponsorships and donations. All proceeds will benefit the Highlands Foundation and Nourish One Child, both non-profit organizations.
The Highlands Foundation provides Highlands Medical Center with much needed medical equipment. This year, the foundation plans to use their proceeds from the race to purchase new stretchers for the surgical unit of the hospital. Nourish One Child operates a backpack program to feed school children in the community who contend with food insecurity and might otherwise go hungry.
There are many sponsorship levels available to anyone interested, or donations can be made in any amount. For more information, visit the event website at www.
