Woods sentenced for child abuse
Today in the Jackson County Courtroom of Judge Brent Benson, Samantha Woods was sentenced to 10 years consecutive, supervised probation of 5 years after serving a split sentence of 18 months – 12 months with AL Dept. of Corrections & 6 months on Community Corrections/Color Code with House Arrest, CRO completion, Parenting Classes, and must comply with Day Reporting Center while on probation following her conviction of two counts of Willful Abuse of a Child. The sentence and conviction stem from an investigation that began after Woods was arrested following a domestic dispute, which led officers to uncover the abuse and neglect of two 18-month-old children.
“This conviction sends a clear message: the abuse of children will not be tolerated in Jackson County,” said District Attorney Jason Pierce. “Protecting our children is not just a priority, it is a sacred duty. Every child deserves to grow up in a safe and nurturing environment, free from fear and harm.”
