William “Bill” Payne, age 82, passed away on December 29, 2025.
Funeral services were held on Saturday, January 3, 2025 from the Rudder Funeral Home Chapel. Danny Radar and Randy Smith officiated. Interment followed in the Mt. Carmel Cemetery.
Mr. Payne is survived by his wife, Fay Payne; daughters, Lori (Chris) Frost, Leah (Clay) Guess, three grandchildren, Logan (Kyndall) Cunningham, Holli Guess, Chloe Cunningham; and brother, Gary (Mary Faye) Payne.
Mr. Payne was preceded in death by his parents, Lewis Payne and Clara Payne; brother, Charles Payne.
He retired from the State of Alabama as a Food and Drug Inspector, was a member of the Bridgeport Church of Christ, he served 6 years in the National Guard, 28 years on the Bridgeport Utility Board, one term as a Jackson County Commissioner, and a 50+ year member of the Masonic Lodge. He was proud of his athletic days in school and being awarded the Best Back Award in 1960
