On Friday, July 25 the Veterans Memorial Park of Jackson County will host its annual Golf Tournament at Goose Pond’s Plantation Course.
The Board of Directors for the Veterans Memorial Park of Jackson County is requesting teams to register, sponsorships and door prize donations.

In the last 12 months, school students from five different county schools, which included 160 students, learned about United States military history and the service to our country by our Veterans. A copy of the U.S. Constitution is given to each student. Tour guides on these structured visits are Veterans of Foreign Wars and American Legion military veterans.

In November, the Veterans Memorial Park dedicated their newest addition to the park, the Fallen Soldier Memorial. This memorial is a bronze statue entitled the “Battlefield Cross”. This statue signifies the location of a fallen soldier on the battlefield. The statue consists of a rifle stuck in the ground with the butt pointed upward, a helmet resting on the butt, along with the soldier’s boots and dog tag (for identification). It will be a solemn reminder of the price of freedom for many years to come.

Currently the Veterans Memorial Park is in the process of obtaining an additional military display to complete the displays at the park.
