Zac Talley recently announced his candidacy for Jackson County Commission Chairman.
Talley’s announcement stated, “Zac Talley, a lifelong Jackson County native and businessman, announced his candidacy for Jackson County Commission Chairman, saying it is time to give a younger, proven leader the opportunity to guide the county’s future.

Talley said his decision to run is driven by his passion for the place he has always called home and his desire to leave Jackson County better than he found it.

‘Jackson County has incredible potential, but it’s going to take fresh leadership and a forward-looking approach to make sure our communities continue to grow,’ Talley said.

‘As a father, I want my daughter – and one day my grandchildren – to have the opportunity to live, work and raise their families right here at home.’

Talley believes county government should focus on creating a welcoming environment where families can stay in Jackson County, find good, reliable jobs, and grow local businesses without unnecessary barriers.

He emphasized that leadership must work hand-in-hand with citizens, not above them.

‘Elected officials should include the people who put them there,’ Talley said. ‘I’m committed to providing multiple avenues for transparency, including creating an official Jackson County Commission Facebook page, live-streaming commission meetings, and hosting town halls throughout our communities so citizens always know what’s happening and have a voice in the process.’

As a proven business leader, Talley said he is prepared to work collaboratively with fellow county commissioners, mayors and local leaders to move Jackson County forward.

‘My approach has always been to listen first, identify solutions, and then collaborate to fix the issue,’ Talley said. ‘That’s how you build strong businesses, and that’s how you build a strong county.’

If elected, Talley plans to prioritize addressing critical infrastructure needs, including improvements to county roads and bridges, while ensuring the Jackson County Sheriff’s Office has the funding, training, and resources needed to protect citizens and communities.

‘Strong infrastructure and public safety aren’t optional – they’re essential,’ Talley said.

‘We owe it to our citizens to maintain the systems that keep our communities connected, safe, and moving forward.’

Talley said his campaign will focus on practical leadership, transparency and long-term planning to ensure Jackson County remains a place families are proud to call home.

‘I’m running to help build a Jackson County we can all be proud of – not just for today, but for generations to come,’ Talley said.”

The primary election is set for May 19, 2026.
