The Scottsboro City Board of Education held a called meeting Monday, July 27, with several agreements and personnel actions on the agenda.
The board approved three agreements recommended by Superintendent Jennifer Williams.
Those agreements included an interagency agreement with Athens State University, a Dell Microsoft agreement for the renewal of Microsoft software, and a service agreement with Youth Advocate Programs.
The board also approved a number of personnel changes as the school system prepares for the upcoming 2026-27 school year.
Three certified employees submitted resignations. Katie Brogdon, a special education teacher at Scottsboro High School, and Lauren Stewart, also a special education teacher at Scottsboro High School, resigned effective July 16. Brooke Hill, a special education teacher at Collins Intermediate School, resigned effective July 17.
Anna Richard resigned as the Danceline sponsor at Scottsboro High School, effective July 16.
The board approved the employment of four certified employees, all effective July 31.
They are Macey Machen, special education teacher, itinerant; Camden Matthews, career prep teacher at Scottsboro High School; Allyn Russell, special education teacher, itinerant; and Dawn Williams, special education teacher, itinerant.
Heath Kirby was approved for part-time employment as an alternative school teacher with the Scottsboro Board of Education.
His contract will run from August 3, 2026, through May 28, 2027. Several classified positions were also approved.
Stephani Bridges was approved as a bus driver, effective July 28.
Amber Cravens was approved as a receptionist, itinerant; Kayla Goza and Hailey Hess were approved as special education instructional assistants, itinerant; and Natalie Jordan was approved as a special education instructional assistant, itinerant, and special education bus aide.
Those positions are effective July 31.
April McAnelly was approved as a Child Nutrition Program worker at Collins Intermediate School, effective July 29, while Rachel Willis was approved as a special education instructional assistant, itinerant, effective August 11.
The board also approved coaching duties for Matthews, who will serve as head junior varsity baseball coach and varsity baseball assistant coach at Scottsboro High School, effective July 31.
Two contracts for services were approved.
Tanya Hancock will provide mentoring for a new gifted specialist and gifted services as needed from August 10, 2026 through May 28, 2027.
Caroline Hickey will provide nursing services on the bus as needed from August 6, 2026 through May 27, 2027.
The board’s next work session and regular meeting are scheduled for Thursday, August 13.
The work session will begin at 4 p.m., followed by the board meeting at 5 p.m. Both will be held at the Scottsboro City Board of Education.
