Road named in honor of Cecil Wells

Published:

Cecil Wells selflessly served Jackson County for over 55 years.
Wells was the truest meaning of “servant’s heart.”
For many years, he worked on sheriff patrol vehicles and radios, and worked numerous events. He spent countless hours supervising volunteers from the jail cleaning county roadways and cemeteries. Wells has worked with all agencies in coordinating these clean-ups.

Known as “PawPaw “ to most, he always remained supportive and encouraging.
It was a blessing that Cecil was able to witness the unveiling of the street sign named in his honor, a small tribute to a lifetime of service and the countless lives he touched.

Scottsboro Mayor Jim McCamy recently stated, “He has done more for the city of Scottsboro and Jackson County than a single person I can think of.”

Sheriff Rocky Harnen said, “No man has done more for the city and the county than Cecil Wells.”

Wells was able to attend the road dedication. He passed away this past weekend.
