Rhonda Selvage Ayers, age 73, passed away May 17, 2026. Funeral services were held on May 23, 2026 from the Grant Church of Christ.

Mrs. Ayers is survived by her husband of 50 years, Larry; her daughter, Susan (Eric) Barrier; and four granddaughters, Lily, Alora, Hallie and Amelia.

Mrs. Ayers was preceded in death by her parents and daughter Kelly Ayers.

The only child of Glendon and Jean Selvage.

Rhonda was a graduate of the Kate Duncan Smith DAR High School in Grant, Alabama.

She received her B.S. from David Lipscomb College, M.S. from National University, and pursued a teaching career in elementary education.

Rhonda and her family were in several locations during her husband’s military career.

Eventually settling in the northern Atlanta suburbs, the family had lived in California, Florida, Texas, Spain, Japan, and Puerto Rico.

As a result, Rhonda was exceptionally well-traveled, and she truly relished retail therapy opportunities while power shopping to find items relevant to the various cultures of their destinations as she and her family visited locales throughout Europe, Asia and the Caribbean.

She developed a love for the ocean while residing in Puerto Rico where she enjoyed searching for seashells while strolling local beaches and the shores of Vieques, Culebra and the U.S. Virgin Islands.

An ever-attentive mother and caregiver, Rhonda’s daughters, Susan and Kelly, were always right by her side through their family’s adventures, and they both loved their mother dearly.

Rhonda will be forever missed by her loving family and all who knew her.
