John Peacock recently announced his candidacy for Jackson County Commission District 1.
Peacock’s announcement stated, “My name is John Peacock. I am a candidate for Jackson County Commissioner District #1.
I am a life long resident of Jackson County. I graduated from North Jackson High School in 1989 (the first year of NJHS).
I have two grown children, Austin, 30 and Lauren, 28. I am a born again Christian, and I attend Happy Home Baptist Church when I am able.
I have worked at the paper mill in Stevenson for 28 years and 6 months, never called in, and never been late to work.
I was asked did I have a campaign slogan. At the time I said no. The more I thought about it, the more I decided I needed one.
My campaign slogan is: ‘I have worked my whole life for a profit, now I wanna work for a purpose.’
I will be retiring in January of 2027.
I will be able to meet and try to help the great people of Jackson County. I encourage all residents to go vote, even if you don’t vote for me.
I have some experience in politics. Since 2011, I have traveled to Washington D.C. with a group called Pulp and Paper workers Resource Council to meet congressmen/women and senators to discuss issues affecting the pulp and paper industry.
Again, I encourage everyone to vote. Thank you.”
The Primary Election is scheduled to be held on May 19, 2026.
