Nancy Ann Stubblefield Franks, age of Grant, passed away on Thursday, August 21, 2025. Funeral services were held on Funeral services will be held on Saturday, August 23, 2025 from the Grant Memorial Chapel. Mark Hastings officiated. Interment followed in the Free Home Cemetery.
Mrs. Franks is survived by three children, Jennifer Franks, Douglas Franks (Kim), and Gregory Franks (Shannon); grandchildren, Racheal Franks, Laura Moore (Adam), Jason Douglas, Colleen Cross (James), Hunter Franks (Jenni), Robert Douglas, Caroline Franks, and Courtney Douglas; great grandchildren, Laci Moore, Anna Moore, Hudson Franks, Nevaeh Douglas, Hayston Franks, Kayson Douglas, Maurice Douglas and Jacob Cross. All her family is from Grant and the surrounding area. She also has one surviving sister, Margaret Bellomy of Scottsboro and sisters-in-law, Toni Stubblefield and Katheleen Stubblefield. Nancy has a host of nieces, nephews, and great nieces and great nephews. She is also survived by many special friends including Donald Watson and Margaret Gross.
Mrs. Franks was preceded in death by her husband, Doyle Franks; her mother and father, Arbel and Gladys Stubblefield; brothers, AR Stubblefield, Ben Stubblefield, Jeff (Helen) Stubblefield and Leon (Reginda) Stubblefield; sister, Rosie (Don) Barnes; and great grandson Noah Ryan Moore.
Nancy graduated from Guntersville High School and had great memories of her school years. For their senior trip the class went to Washington D.C. and saw all the sites. Afterwards Nancy always enjoyed attending their high school reunions.
Nancy retired from Redstone Arsenal where she was a Procurement Analyst with over 35 years of federal service. She worked in building 4488 and saw numerous famous people-astronauts, two presidents (Kennedy and George Bush Sr.) and Dr. Wernher von Braun. She was on a different floor from Dr. Von Braun, but had a few conservations with him. He gave her a few wooden rockets he had and a signed picture.
Nancy enjoyed traveling. Nancy also enjoyed gardening, canning food, making jams and jellies, baking cakes, and working in her flower garden. Nancy also hosted cards games with her family.
Nancy will always be remembered as a caring and loving mother, friend, and sister; she will be missed.
