Municipal elections to be held in August

On August 26 Jackson County voters will cast their votes in the 2025 Municipal Elections. Several municipalities within Jackson County have big races coming up: In Bridgeport, David “Bubba” Hughes will face Leon Dave for Mayor; Michelle Willis will face Lauria Boyd for Bridgeport City Council Place 2; and Barry Hughes will face Trey Stewart for Bridgeport City Council Place 4.

In Dutton, Claudessa Rains will face Karson Davis for Dutton City Council Place 2.

Jerry Adkins, Mark “Scooter” Bangs, Sam Rodgers and Melinda Gilbert will face off for Mayor of Hollywood; Judy Henderson will face Ann Martin for Hollywood City Council Place 1; Ilene Cothron and Dalton Rodgers will face off for Hollywood City Council Place 2; and Patty Allen will face Rickey Adkins for Hollywood City Council Place 3.

The town of Pisgah has the most candidates running this year.

Leamon Smith, Brandy Arnold, Dwight Meeks and Bryan Roberts will face off for Mayor of Pisgah; Linda Smith and Tony Callahan are each vying for Pisgah City Council Place 1; Connie Carter, Chad Meeks and Dwight Griffith are facing off for Pisgah City Council Place 2; Labron Ferguson, David Gant and Breck Cochran are each running for Pisgah City Council Place 3; and Kathy Woodfin, Gregg Cole, Kathy Griffith and Carey Ellison are each running for Pisgah City Council Place 4.

In Skyline, Caleb Skipper will face Aaron Thomas for Mayor.

Ricky Steele and Terry Ballard are each running for Mayor of Stevenson; Greg Chubb will face Tommie Pierce for Stevenson City Council Place 2; Glenda Taylor and Corey Carter will face off for Stevenson City Council Place 3; and Keith Davis will face Jeff Bennett for Stevenson City Council Place 4.

July 27 is the last day to establish residency to vote in the municipal election. August 11 is the last day to register to vote in the municipal election. August 19 is the last day to receive an application for a regular absentee ballot by mail. August 21 is the last day for a voter to hand deliver an application for a regular absentee ballot. August 25 will be the last day for a voter to apply for an emergency absentee ballot.

Polls will be open from 7 a.m. until 7 p.m. on election day.
