Jackson County tourism on the rise

Jackson County saw another exciting year of tourism growth in 2024! More than 1.5 million people visited, spending a total of $93.6 million—up from $91.4 million in 2023. That’s more money going directly into our local economy, supporting small businesses, creating jobs, and building stronger communities.

Here’s the impact of tourism in 2024:
• 1,200 local jobs supported by tourism (up from 1,170)
• $28.3 million in travel-related earnings
• $576,244 in state lodging tax generated

These figures are from the 2024 Alabama Tourism Economic Report, published by the Alabama Tourism Department, which tracks the annual economic impact of travel and tourism across the state.

From fishing on Lake Guntersville to treasure hunting at Unclaimed Baggage, visitors are drawn to the natural beauty, friendly towns, and one-of-a-kind experiences that define Jackson County.
“Our community has something truly special, and more people are taking notice,” said Lydia Pennington, Executive Director of Tourism. “We’re thankful for the businesses, leaders, and residents who help make Jackson County a place people want to visit—and come back to again and again.”
