Doris Elizabeth Jett, age 90 of Scottsboro, passed away on Saturday, February 28, 2026. A private memorial service was held from the Scottsboro Funeral Home. Interment followed in the Pinehaven Memorial Gardens.
Mrs. Jett is survived by her children Daniel X. Jett, Timothy R. (Laura) Jett, and Elizabeth A. Jett (Jim) Gentry; and grandchildren, Lauren Elizabeth, Anna Louise, Timothy Richard, Jr, Penelope Leigh, and Sarah Elizabeth.
Mrs. Jett was preceded in death by her parents, Herman and Doris Anderson of Baltimore, Maryland, sister Betty Anderson Englestad, brother Charles Anderson, and her husband of 52 years Theodore “Ted” Jett.
Doris trained as an opera singer at the prestigious Peabody Conservatory in Baltimore, Maryland, but gave up her musical career to become a devoted wife and mother to three children.
She loved the Dear Lord, singing and leading the choir at St Jude’s Catholic Church in Scottsboro for decades. She’s most remembered for singing “O Holy Night” during Christmas Midnight Mass.
Doris loved animals, especially dogs, and supported various animal welfare causes.
