During last week’s Scottsboro city council meeting, Place 1 Councilman Ralph Dawe’s letter of resignation was read. Dawe resigned due to unspecified health reasons.
Dawe, who was elected to the city council in 2020, was previously employed by the city of Scottsboro for 31 years. Dawe served the City of Scottsboro for ten years as a detective supervisor and 14 years as Scottsboro’s Chief of Police. He has served on the city council for the last five years.

Council President Richard Bailey announced that anyone who would like to be considered for appointment to the vacancy, may apply in writing to City Clerk Whitney Phillips at Scottsboro City Hall no later than July 24, 2025.
