Christmas Charities seeks donations

Published:

As the we celebrate the holiday season, Jackson County Christmas Charities is asking the community for support as it works to meet growing needs among the county’s most vulnerable residents.
Each year, the organization spends approximately $60,000 to provide Christmas assistance across Jackson County. While the program is widely known for its child adoption efforts, a significant portion of its mission focuses on helping senior citizens and individuals with disabilities who are living on extremely limited incomes.

Through the program, qualifying seniors and disabled residents receive a $150 grocery gift card, offering essential help during a time when financial strain is often at its highest.
Many recipients rely on Supplemental Nutrition Assistance Program (SNAP) benefits that average around $25 per month, an amount that falls far short of covering basic nutritional needs. As a result, many are forced to make difficult choices between purchasing food, filling prescriptions or paying utility bills.

Organizers with Jackson County Christmas Charities say the need continues to grow, while resources remain limited. Rising food costs and increased medical expenses have placed additional pressure on households already struggling to make ends meet.

Donations from the community help ensure that seniors and disabled residents are able to maintain their health and dignity during the holiday season. Contributions directly support grocery assistance and allow the organization to continue serving those who might otherwise go without.

Jackson County Christmas Charities relies entirely on donations and community support to carry out its mission. Individuals, businesses, churches and civic organizations are encouraged to contribute or assist in spreading awareness of the program.
