Chasaty LaShaye “Chas” Wharton, age 43, of Dawson, Alabama, passed away on Wednesday, April 15, 2026. Funeral services, followed by a worship service, were held on Saturday, April 18, 2026 from the Rainsville Church of God. David Wharton, Katina Blanchett, Chris Bell, Bryson Wharton and Ryan Johnson officiated.
Mrs. Wharton is survived by her husband, David Wharton; her children, Ryan Johnson, Julian Johnson and Bryson Wharton; her grandfather, Jimmy Bouldin; her sisters, Tiffany Kimbrough and Sommer Brumley; and one grandchild, Matthew.
Mrs. Wharton was preceded in death by her father, David Kimbrough, and her mother, Angela Chapman.
Chas was a woman of unshakable and remarkable faith, known by many as a true prayer warrior. She poured her heart into others, serving as a mother figure to those in the Father’s House program and standing as a passionate advocate for drug rehabilitation and recovery. Her life was a testimony of grace, compassion and redemption.
She had a way of making people feel seen and loved, whether through her warm presence, the comfort of one of her unforgettable hugs or the sound of her beautiful voice lifted in worship.
To know Chas was to experience kindness, strength and a faith that never wavered.
One of the last verses she shared still echoes in the hearts of those who loved her: “But You, O Lord, are a shield for me, my glory and the One who lifts up my head.”
— Psalm 3:3 It was the last message many heard her speak, a reflection of the faith she carried so boldly.
And in a final, tender moment, the last words she shared were “I love you,” expressed in sign language, a simple, powerful reminder of the love she gave so freely.
Life will never be the same without her, but her legacy of faith, love and compassion will continue to live on in every life she touched.
