Carolyn Evett McAllister, age 71 of Scottsboro, passed away on October 26, 2025. Funeral services were held on Thursday, October 30, 2025 from the Scottsboro Funeral Home Chapel. Dustin Henshaw officiated. Interment followed in the Pinehaven Memorial Gardens.
Mrs. McAllister is survived by her husband, Gary McAllister; sisters, Brenda (Wayne) Keeton and Kay Lord; brother, Tommy Evett; brother-in-law, Tony Stewart; and sisters-in-law, Julia McAllister and Jan Evett Nash. She dearly loved her nieces and nephews, who brought great joy to her life, Tracy (Jason) Worley, Tony (Erin) Evett, Tim Evett, Tommy Evett, Jr., Zachary Hill, Candi (Jesse) Miles, Gloria Evett, Lee Evett, Cassi (Kevin) Lamons, Corey Adams, Misty (Zach) Perkins, Kevin Adams, Matt (Kayla) Evett, Trevor Stewart, and Shoyna McAllister; along with a host of great-and great-great-nieces and nephews.
Mrs. McAllister was preceded in death by her parents, Claude and Daisy Hastings Evett; brothers, Claude Evett, Jr. and Jerry Evett; sister, Jackie Evett Stewart; father- and mother-in-law, Horace and Dorothy McAllister; and brother-in-law Felix McAllister.
Born on December 9, 1953, Carolyn devoted her life to caring for others through her long and compassionate career as a Registered Nurse. She worked in the Emergency Room for most of her career at Jackson County Hospital and finished her career working home health and hospice. She loved her work, her coworkers, and the many patients whose lives she touched with her kindness and dedication.
Carolyn found joy in helping others, traveling to the beach and mountains, and spending time with the ones she loved most. Her loving spirit, warm smile, contagious laughter, and generous heart will be deeply missed by all who knew her.
