A mom, sister, mentor, survivor, and an absolute inspiration to everyone around her. She was diagnosed with breast cancer in January 2013, and spent 12 years inspiring her doctors, friends, and fellow-cancer-fighters with each new survival milestone reached.
Carol’s last years in life were dominated by her treatment for triple-negative breast cancer, but her capacity for love and selfless acts of service was never diminished. She never lost her spark, gusto, and drive to keep going and keep trying — beating all the odds, percentages, and chances.
She worked for King Kohl Food Services for over 35 years, and at least 30 of those years were spent as a General Manager for the company and its KFC franchise. Even years after retirement, she would speak fondly of her time in service to the ‘Colonel’.
Carol grew up in Grant attending KDS DAR School and later Snead State for her college experience. She relocated to the Claysville area after marriage, but kept her connection with the Grant area strong. She would often visit her siblings, nieces, and nephews — selflessly acting as the glue holding us all together.
While her children were in school, all her free time was spent at a sporting event or dance competition — also selflessly acting as the glue holding her kids’ lives together. After they were adults, Carol spent her time volunteering in the community as a representative for KKFS, as a mom, or in the name of cancer awareness.
