Tony Baker recently announced his candidacy for Jackson County Sheriff.
Baker stated, “I have officially qualified as a Republican candidate for Sheriff of Jackson County, Alabama.
This decision comes after much prayer, reflection and encouragement from my family, friends and members of our community who believe, as I do, that Jackson County deserves strong, ethical and people-centered leadership in the Sheriff’s Office.
I am 55 years old and have proudly served in law enforcement for more than 30 years. Twenty-five of those years were spent right here in Jackson County, where I retired as a Lieutenant in the Criminal Investigations Division.
During my career, I have worked all levels of a sheriff’s office, from corrections, to patrol lieutenant, to lieutenant in criminal investigations.
I have also held the titles of Assistant Police Chief and Chief of Police. This experience has shown me what truly matters, protecting our citizens while supporting the dedicated deputies and staff who serve this county every day.
Integrity, transparency, honesty and a strong work ethic are not campaign words to me; they are values I have lived by throughout my career.
If you show me a community that places its trust and confidence in me to serve and protect them and their families, I will show you a sheriff who will refuse to let them down.
I am a family man with strong family values. This year, I will celebrate my 25th wedding anniversary with my beautiful wife, Jennine. We are blessed with four children and three, soon to be four, grandchildren. Family is at the heart of who I am, and it shapes how I view service, responsibility and protecting our community.
This campaign is not about a title or a position. It is about service.
I genuinely enjoy serving and protecting the people of Jackson County. Law enforcement has never been “just a job” to me; it has been a calling. I love this county, and I love the people who call it home.
In the months ahead, you will see me out in the community, meeting people, shaking hands, listening and learning. I want to know you and your family, and I want you to know me as Tony Baker, not just as a sheriff candidate. Trust is built face to face through honest conversations and real relationships. My goal is to build bridges, strengthen trust, and work together to keep Jackson County safe and strong. I am running for Sheriff because I believe in this community and in the values that make Jackson County special. With experience, integrity and dedication, I will always put people first—both the citizens we serve and the men and women who serve alongside us.
