The Northeast Alabama Community College women’s cross country team continued its nice start to the 2026 season with another strong all-around performance.
NACC’s top-five scoring runners all posted Top-20 finishes and all eight finished 27th or better during Saturday’s UNA Invitational at McFarland Park in Florence.
NACC recorded a team score of 56, 17 points in front of third-place Northeast Mississippi Community College. UNA won the meet with a perfect score of 15.
“You expect the NCAA teams will probably win these things, but we wanted to be atop the junior college finishers. The runners responded to what we needed from them,” said NACC head coach John Moore. “We had a lot of career PRs [personal records], a lot of season PRs. It was a hot day, so we only expect those times to drop as we go. I think we can possibly have five [runners] or more running possibly sub-20 [minutes] by the time the season ends.”
Every NACC runner ran a faster time during Saturday’s meet than they did at the season-opening Cherokee Farms XC Invitational.
Freshman Mia Martin led the Mustangs’ effort, finishing 12th after clocking a 5K race time of 20:46.92. Freshman Kate Aultman followed with a 14th-place finish (20:51.45) while sophomores Makayla Amador (21:22.60) and Dania Belman (21:27.59) were 17th and 19th respectively and freshman Nevaeh Evans was 20th (21:33.19) to round out NACC’s top-five scoring runners. The Mustangs also got a 23rd-place finish from Macie Huffstutler (21:57.30), a 25th-place finish from Jazz Davidson (22:28.08) and a 27th-place finish from Hope Cagle (23:39.85).
