Ed Southeard

Ed Southeard, age 72 of McDonald, Tennessee, formerly of Scottsboro, passed away on March 5, 2026. A celebration of life service was held on Saturday, March 14, 2026 from the Silverdale Baptist Church.

Mr. Southeard is survived by his loving wife of 45 years, Sandy Southeard; two sons, Ward (Ryli) Southeard and Mark (Keri) Southeard; two grandchildren, Simon and Lily;  his father, Kenneth Southeard ; and uncle, Ron Crawford.
Mr. Southeard was preceded in death by his mother, Delorese Southeard.
Ed was born on December 12, 1953, in Scottsboro, Alabama.
A man of strong faith, dedication, and kindness, he lived a life marked by devotion to his family, his students, and his community.
Ed earned his bachelor’s degree from the University of Alabama in Tuscaloosa and later completed his MBA at the University of Alabama in Huntsville.
He went on to share his knowledge and passion for business as an esteemed professor in the Business Department at Chattanooga State Community College, where he faithfully served for 21 years.
His impact on students and colleagues alike will be remembered for generations.
A devoted Christian, Ed was a faithful member of Silverdale Baptist Church in Chattanooga.
His life reflected his deep faith and commitment to serving others.
Outside of his professional life, Ed had a deep love for the outdoors, especially trout fishing.
He was also a passionate Alabama football fan who rarely missed an opportunity to cheer on the Crimson Tide.
Above all, his most treasured blessing was his family, whom he loved deeply and wholeheartedly.
Ed’s legacy of faith, love, and dedication will live on in the hearts of those who knew him.
