Ms. Powell is survived by her siblings, Michael (Regina) Powell, Susan (Doug) Sibley, Randall Powell, Charles (Martha) Powell, Anna (Jeff) LaFarlett, and Kevin (Kathryn) Powell; her much loved nieces and nephews, Nathan Powell, Mary Beth Dunnam, Michael Powell II, Ellyn Smith, Shailyn Elvira, Madelyn Sibley, Tanner Sibley (who shares his aunt Carla’s birthday), Jennifer Hurtley, Jonathon Powell, Nathan Powell, Jonathan Hopper, Allen Hopper, Justin LaFarlett, Taylor Powell, and Trent Powell; numerous great nieces and great nephews.

Carla was born on August 20, 1964, the 5th child of Carlton and Frances Powell, at the Sand Mountain Infirmary in Albertville.

Soon after graduating from Guntersville High School in 1983, Carla went to work at Guntersville Hospital, which later became Marshall Medical Center North on December 24, 1984.

She worked there taking care of newborns and children of all ages and later became a monitor technician.

Carla retired from MMCN on December 24, 2019 – exactly 35 years after she started to work there.

Carla loved children, especially her nieces and nephews.

She loved to take them out to eat and to shop. She also enjoyed reading, watching television, and counted cross stitch.

Carla had a remarkable personality, which made her loved by everyone. She had fun but also spoke her mind about all sorts of things-whether you agreed or not. She was a member of Rehobeth Baptist Church in Guntersville.

A true caregiver, Carla spent several years taking care of her father. In her last few years, she lived at Bridgewood Gardens in Albertville, then later at Diversicare of Boaz.

She also received treatment at Fresenius Dialysis in Albertville. Everyone took such good care of her, and she loved everyone at all those places. A special thank you is given to them by the family.
