Mary Elizabeth Barnes, a native of Grant, passed away Tuesday, October 14, 2025. A celebration of life service was held from the Grant Memorial Chapel on Friday, October 17, 2025. Interment followed in the Free Home Cemetery.
Mrs. Barnes is survived by her children, Steve (Paula) Barnes, Anthony (Brenda) Barnes, Jamie (Lou Anne) Barnes and Sherry (Rick Barecky) West; along with eight grandchildren and thirteen great grandchildren.
Mrs. Barnes was preceded in death by her parents, Cecil and Effie Cooper; her husband, James Eldon Barnes; and great grandson, Carter Barrett Moore.
Born in New Hope, she moved to Grant in 1954 when she married Eldon Barnes.
