Melba “Meb” Sloan, age 85, passed away on Friday, September 5, 2025. Funeral services were held on Sunday, September 7, 2025 from the Scottsboro Funeral Home Chapel. Interment followed in the Pinehaven Memorial Gardens.
Mrs. Sloan is survived by her twin sister, Merbil Reeves; her brother, Jimmy Sloan; several treasured nieces and nephews; many friends, including her neighbors, Henry and Lynn, and the loving members of her church.
Mrs. Sloan was preceded in death by her parents, Alva and Mattie Shavers Sloan; her brother, Ray; and her sisters, Fern Gamble and Mariah Auger.
The three most important things in her life were her church, her family, and her independence. She was a dedicated member of Broad Street Church of Christ where she faithfully served for over 50 years She was often seen walking the short distance between her house and the church. She was also extremely devoted to all of her family to whom she was lovingly known as Meb. Her happiest moments were attending a variety of family events from large celebrations to simple dinners. Her memory will live on in the hearts of all who loved her.
